Something I've found myself loving is photographing HEMA tournaments. When I picked up a camera a few years ago I never thought I'd be in the position to photograph this kind of thing. I pretty much expected it would be all baby photos and my poor kids, sometimes they see my camera and run, they're so tired of getting their picture taken. So this is a nice break for them too.

When Darrell got involved in Historical European Martial Arts a few years ago I slowly got involved too. It's been a lot of fun to be there, supporting him, and getting shots of the women and men doing badass stuff with swords. These are incredible athletes and the tournaments are so much fun to watch.

If you're interested in the sport get in touch with the Cymbrogi School of Western Martial Arts. It's a great group, they're all really friendly, and if you aren't in the Oklahoma City area they'll be able to point you in the direction of a school near you. That's one of the things I love so much about this community, everyone supports and encourages each other. You couldn't ask for a better group of people.
